So why is the "new" NWP while the operator of it being a private contractor to the NWP getting a free ride on the taxpayers dime? What, the trough has yet to run dry?

No, if the taxpayers footed the big $$$ to fund the rebuild, I think that the "new" NWP should be self-supporting and to do just that takes in & out carloads. Again, how many remaining (if there are any besides the grainery in Petaluma) shippers & receivers are still willing to ship in or out their goods via the railroad? There used to be track headed north from Schellville for a feed mill for the county turkey farms, but line is no more. Is the lumber yard adjcent to Schellville still asking for service? Are other nearby businesses in Petaluma asking for service?

What about any in Santa Rosa and Windsor?
