With AMTRAK service recently curtailed, the traffic on I-5 is NOT going
to be noticeably different. What "IS" going to be everyone's nightmare
is rapidly approaching on Friday, August 10th--when several lanes of I-5
in the Northbound direction will be closed for 24-hours, over a 19-Day
stretch to allow long-awaited repair/replacement of several sets of ex-
pansion joints in the area between Spokane Street on the South and the I-90
interchange on the North.
BNSF has consented to allowing SOUNDER to operate ONE extra commute train.
Gee, aren't they so very "generous" !!! METRO Transit has to re-route over
140 bus trips carrying 11,000 commuters; Pierce Transit and SOUNDER has
several re-routings as well...
The current traffic "forecast" is that commute traffic heading Northbound
into Seattle on I-5 will be backed up well past the Southern end of Tacoma;
(over 35-miles)... ""Have a nice Day !!""
