Juppo... you will find a consideration of the C&N in George Hilton's very find book...
AMERICAN NARROW GUAGE RAILROADS...It is brief but answers most questions one would ask except curious why it chose 40th and San Pablo...for its origin .unless that was the end of a cable car line at the time.. but curious too if they considered a ferry... Not likely as initially it was too small for that as it then served a sparse population...It ran from May 1886 til shut down in 1898 I used to pick up spikes on the right of way in Orinda and the last ROW cut at Bryants was visible from the highway up til war II.. Must have been an impressive trestle across the golf course that was blt later in Orinda. Thx for looking for the HPC map.
