Sounds like he thought he could make a living at it. Maybe a labor of love but that don't pay the bills. Not enough railbuffs out there so not enough money coming in simple as that.
Still he sold some great little rags, forgot about the Northwest issues. Had some great fake names in there for info sources like F. Sevenay (F7A), who the hell was that? Used to get a good laugh at the fake names like here on the Altamont site. Guess my old brain still remembers a thing or to. Guess Viagra helps the mind too.
