When the flaming breaks out, I am usually among the first to bug out. However, the negative comments attached to this thread bother me!
Sure, G scale is not the same as 1:1 scale! However, for a 7th or 8th grade science project, this one does show creative thinking and thoroughness. This young man shows a lot of initiative at a time when many of his peers are learning about drugs, gangs, etc! He should be encouraged. He has been volunteering at a museum and as a result does know something full size trains.
Those of us who developed an early interest in 1:1 scale railroads owe a great debt to those railroaders and others who encouraged us, and introduced us to some of the basic safety rules when around full size trains.
