The worst offenders in the Seattle - Tacoma container trade are the day - trippers from British Columbia. Mostly Russian / Ukrainian immigrants, these drivers will often make TWO round trips a day between metropolitan Vancouver & Puget Sound or Portland area docks & customers. Since they are paid by the trip or a percentage of the load value, they make more money from 2 trips than 1. Their driving scares even me, ( I spent 10 years driving commercial trucks in SoCal ); as well they also think the rules don't apply to them. A friend of mine, a WSP Sargeant, has removed several Shadow Lines drivers from service in Federal Way, only to watch them drive off without their licenses !!! A quick call to Customs & Border Protection in Sumas took care of the problem.
Regarding the NWP / SMART dealie, I don't see how NWP can be bought, unless they want to be.
