Yeah, this nonsense about reducing crash worthiness standards is part of the justification for the more bloated system planned by the runaway money CHSRA train in CA.

The Chinese were running that system beyond design limits with little testing, at 220 mph. for "prestige" reasons. This troubled HSR program in China has been a scandal that has been building for months now. This accident is now finally resulting in another look at how the Chinese program has been mismanaged.

And, Ahnold offered to virtually "sole source" his Chinese junket hosts for the CA project????? He must have been so used to mismanagement under his pals on the CHSRA Board that he thought that this was normal?
