We were there last September. Our cousins have relocated there from Lake Almanor (near Mt. Lassen in No. California). Yes, it is a burgeoning resort area, growing fast with retirees coming from, of course, California. Aside from the usual fast food joints as mentioned here, there are some great little places to eat and the prices, by California standards, were very reasonable. Yes, the real estate prices were escalating--don't know if they are experiencing the same slow downs as here in California-----but overall, it is a nifty place. As to the number of trains, jeez, what more do you want??? Beats all heck out of the Coast Line here!! :-)
