Well, I am going out on a limb here:
I believe the lumber is heading for China for all purposes, not just furniture. Just recently, Canada announced that almost 100% of their export lumber is headed to China and here in Washington numbers are similar. China cannot be building that much cheap furniture, not a big enough market. Mills in both Washington and BC are starting up again just to mill for China. In the timber industry, the big question is how big will the bubble get and when will it burst. Some think that by this time next year it will have burst. Thus, no new equipment, just resurrecting old iron to make due. Nobody wants to be caught in this bubble bursting.
