I'm glad that somebody else has been able to spot (or admit to being able to spot) a train accross the lake at Hope from the depot or beach. I have had people tell me that I was a psycho for that. One day, with the absense of a scanner that would have announced a train coming by the Kootenai detector, I was sitting with a foamer at the beach next to the depot and spotted a train. I was told that I was crazy and that to make the walk over to the depot to shoot this "phantom" train would be a waste of energy in the heat that day. I waited a few minutes and then walked over. (Running time from Hope to Sandpoint Depot is about 15 minutes). Long story short, I got my shot.
