This approach actually provides for a low cost alternative that will allow HSR to cut some unneeded expense. Should they run on Caltrain, the speeds would most likey be limited in the 120MPH range, and would only cost them 5 or 6 minutes for the segment.

However, the cost savings in electrification, construction and law suits could be worth billions. I know that Caltrain has issues with funding, but I thought the MTC was going to fund the electrification with or without HSR.
