Birthday Express

Last Saturday it was mentioned on another board that the Silver Solarium and Silver Lariat were spotted on a San Joaquin train in Bakersfield. Just to let you all know, the cars were chartered by a Bay Area railfan to celebrate his 60th Birthday.

The Birthday boy, his wife and 51 friends had a Fantastic Time! Burt and his staff provided excellent service and food, and the guests were thrilled to be in the historic and lovely cars. For the railfans present, we also saw a windmill train and two warbonnet GP60s in Merced.

While we started with maybe 10 railfans, I think we ended up with 53. At least they are all private rail car riding Fans now!

P.S., I was along because, after all, it was my 60th birthday we were celebrating!
