You are correct. The third Ringling Brothers circus touring show, the Gold Unit, travels by truck and plays the smaller cities. The two large shows, The Red Unit and the Blue Unit each travel by separate train and play all the same cities, but not every year. The Red Unit plays half the cities in one year and then plays the other half of cities in the next year. The Blue Unit does the same thing, alternating the cities where it plays with the Blue Unit. Thus, it takes each unit two years to tour the whole country and every two years each unit produces a new show with individual acts joining and leaving the shows. When a person sees the show every year at the same arena, he is seing the Red Unit in one year and seeing the Blue Unit in the next year and then seeing the Red Unit again in the third year.
