OPB is right, I only speak for mayself as a Republican, but I say what I think my cohorts want to do.

I disagree that there is a public groundswell for transportation other than POV, yet, but a large enough minority of taxpayers exists on both sides of the political aisle to allow the national gummint to address and, where cost effective, fulfill their demands. Lead times for big projects make it necessary to sometimes go against current public opinion to build a future capacity that will be unremarkaable i a few years.
