Next time choose a profession that allows you to have your time reimbursed by your client no matter what the delay is.

Or...choose a travel mode that allows you to divert to other routes when necessary.

Yes, what the suicidal guy did was foolish and stupid, but think about the underlying condition. He doesn't need scorn, he needs help. Serious help. And unfortunately there are too many people and not enough resources for people in that dire of situation.
