Over the course of the past few months we have been asked, who is Steve Lee? To some of us it may sound like a funny question, however, it is valid and worth answering. Steve Lee was the Union Pacific Steam Boss (Big Daddy, to many of us) from the inception of the program in the mid 1980's until he retired on January 1, 2011. Steve grew to be a steam railroading icon in his own right. He has appeared in countless videos. He has been written about in countless news paper articles all over the US and he has had many stories written about he and his crew while he managed the steam program at UP that we all love so much.
For the past 9 months of his new retirement, Steve Lee has been working on writing a book about the adventures he had personally, that have not been covered by other presentations. He has really enjoyed the project. You can see an interview with Steve Lee by following the link below;

Yesterday, Steve Lee, Mike Lewis and myself met to discuss the progress of the book project. Over the course of the past few months we have had some great, and I mean great submissions for the book. Thank you to everybody who has contributed. Steve has been personally touched by some of the contributions! At any rate, we decided that we need to establish a cut off date for this project. As such, we are asking that all submissions be sent in no later than OCTOBER 31, 2011. Submissions can be made by following this link:

If you have trouble making a submission, please let us know!
The book will be finished by December 31, 2011. Steve will be making a few western public appearances in February and March of 2012. We will make these formal announcements as we get closer to the dates. The volume of submissions we have received will most likely require a second book. This project has been a lot of fun and we can't wait to see the end outcome!
Kindly yours,
