Rumor has it that this will be Rotem's only venture into this market - so there will apparently be no possiblity of an option to build more cars unless someone else picks up the design.

THere isn't anything "unsafe" about the Bombardier cars. After numerous cab-car first incidents, the hue and cry was to have safer cars. I believe they intended to use only Rotem cab cars when the order was filled, converting the Bombardier cab cars to coaches. Due to their controls, cab cars are considered locomotives and require 92-day inspections.
