This is the most interesting part of that story:

Also Monday, the engine of one of three locomotives pulling freight cars through downtown Spokane caught fire about 10 a.m. and left a thick trail of smoke.

Melonas said the crew quickly extinguished the fire. The train continued to Pasco, Wash., where the locomotive would be inspected.
