Still 4 of these units residing on the CCT, the CCT 1501, 1502, 1503, 1504 running every day at the Port of Stockton in CCT colors, if possible CCT is going to try and get two more SW1500s from the auction if we can find two good runners As an old WP guy would like to get the Ex WP units.
Every month these 4 SW1500 units handle over 7500 cars at the Port of Stockton. CCT crews like them and they seem to be bullet proof. They get washed each month and the CCT mechanical and track department employees keep them clean and running well. CCT installed new more fuel efficent fuel injectors and goveners in 2007 and they are now the cleanest running SW1500 units around, you will never see any smoke and they use 10% less fuel 20% less PM and 30% less NOX than a regular SW1500. 1960's technology still getting the job done. We plan to upgrade the traction control systems in 2012 and 2013. Never ever thought of them as "cruds" They are best looking switching engine around and easy on an old overweight railroader to get on and off of and run when needed. So all of you folks here on the left coast do not worry there are 4 you can still photograph.
