For quite a few years now, there has been no use of schedule authority to occupy main track, so all trains are "extras" (although that term is no longer used, either). The scheduled times of passenger trains in public timetables convey no authority to operate; this authority comes from the dispatcher/control operator via verbal instruction, track warrant, or indication of a controlled signal. Thus, there is no need for classification lights or flags.
