The locals are looking at a new governance structure for LOSSAN similar to that which has been running the Capitol Corridors. Many feel that Caltrans has repeatedly failed to effectively represent local priorities and the locals, who fund most of the capital projects, are looking at other successful corridor governance/adminitrative structures, like the Capitols to administer the LOSSAN intercity corridor.
This alternative governance and administrative model actually may save money, offer better service, and be more successful in implementing more long term investments in the LOSSAN Corrridor. Yes, these local agencies are looking at ways to potentially integrate local "commuter" and intercity "express" services to better serve "customers" in the LOSSAN Corridor. Now, isn't all of that just terrible????
Unlike so many trolly jolly's and train fans, actual rail customers don't care about what horn is used, or who runs the train, only that it is safe, frequent, fast, reliable, affordable, and goes where they need to go.
This new proposed LOSSAN governance item can be found in the agenda reports at the local agencies who make up LOSSAN. It was on the LOSSAN agenda last week.
A few folks are a bit crabby and not well informed about this dubious rumor of changes, but this is not the end of Surfliners............ or the world, as we know it. So lighten up.... EGBOK!
