Here are a few select images captured during a photo charter sponsored by the Cumbres & Toltec and Lerro Productions on September 21 and 22nd, 2011. Most of the event took place after sunrise and wrapped up before sunset in order to keep costs down while still getting some time later for some night photography. As typical, while the patrons slept yet another engine was rebirthed for 24 hours - this time DRG&W #489 dressed for #485, lost to a drop in the turntable pit in 1953 and scrapped 2 years later.
Who says you need to travel to China to see a real working steam line? A visit to the shops, both here and over in Durango, along with steam from the east meeting steam from the west, along with our "freight" train sitting in the hole in order to let priority passenger trains pass would prove otherwise!
More photos and all the captions over on RP for those interested.
Enjoy!
