Relative cost of LRV's vs buses

Back in 2004, I asked the late Cameron Beach (who was then Chief Operating Officer of Sacramento Regional Transit) about the cost of LRV's.

At that time, their latest LRV's had cost about $2.5 million each, not including spare parts and training.

Also at that time, a new 40-foot transit bus cost about $350,000.

I didn't ask him about the useful lives of buses vs. LRV's, but suspect that LRV's last somewhat longer.
