THA = Timber Heritage Association.

THA was originally organized as the Northern Coast Redwoods Logging Interpretive Associaton, an auxillary of the California Department of Parks and Recreation. The group originally formed to cooperate with the state in the display and operations of the historic logging displays at Fort Humboldt State Park in Eureka, CA; however, the group has accumulated a fairly substantial collection of other equipment, mostly from various north coast loggers, and has secured space within the old Hammond Lumber Company roundhouse building behind the famous Samoa Cookhouse in Samoa, CA. The group adopted the THA name about ten years ago to better reflect their growing scope and ambitions (logging museum somewhere in the area, excursion railroad around the shores of Humboldt Bay, etc.)
