February 1984 found Ronald Reagan entering the fourth year of his first term and would stand for re-election against Michael Dukakis. That same month finds SP SD45T2 #9313 leading three others and a lone SD45 thru downtown Reno. The people on the left are standing outside waiting for the Westbound California Zephyr.

Twent seven years later would find "the trench" at this location and the SP consigned to the rubble of history.
