That is sad news, it must have been wonderful to see the steam on the MHRR. I used to live in Hood River and rode the train many times. I have a question about how they ran though.

The information that I have from the history of the railroad, said that they had to run the steamers facing uphill to make sure that the crown sheet was covered all the time. To do this, they at one time had installed a turntable a the switchback location.

What was the normal way that they ran the steamers this summer?
