And if you check out the U.S.S. Blueback just a further bit to the south along the Willamette River, it's powered by a pair of Fairbanks Morse engines (that won't be replaced anytime soon.)
Or the Steam Tug Portland that has a nice - and operable - steam boiler on its lower deck.
As for those Detroit Diesels mentioned...TriMet has quite a few Detroit Diesel powered vehicles. Lesser known for its engines are the 2000 series New Flyer D40LF (Series 50). More popularly known (by railfans, not by the general public) are the two ex-Alaska Railroad RDCs used by WES (Series 71), along with the Colorado Railcar DMUs which also have Detroit Diesel power (Series 60) underneath them. (TriMet tends to like Cummins engines for their buses.)
