Great pictures (as always)!

In the 2nd one at LAUS, I have a couple of questions about the platform (11/12) and the construction work going on to the right on the new platform. (Tracks 13 & 14? Or will they skip "13" and make them 14/15? Never mind, I digress.)

First, what is the ramp with railings in the middle of the existing platfrom? I don't see anything comparable on the platfroms to the left (9/10?).

Second, do I see a change in the height of the new platform, going (L to R) from higher to lower? If so, any reason why? It doesn't look large enough to be accomodate both low-boarding Superliners & Metrolink Bombardier cars on the one hand, and older equipment on the other.

Thanks in advance for any insight -- it's been a while since I've had the pleasure of exploring that wonderful station.
