Yes, it runs (or it did when it got there) and before it arrived, it went over the peeler (wheel truing) either at Colton or in L.A. It doesn't have a steam boiler anymore. It was rescued from an ill-conceived dinner train collection which was at Pacific Rail Dismantlers in Colton, CA. several years ago.
The restoration will probably lean towards the cosmetic side as opposed to one which is thoroughly mechanical in nature, given OERM's past performance. But it will most likely look great run well enough and it will be very nice to see it in a train with the following cars: they have a UP R.P.O of Harriman heavyweight design, Chair 542, Lounge 1530 and a U.P. lightweight Sleeper (seen behind the E-unit). The best part: All those cars (except the RPO) have air conditioning and also have roller bearings, the latter which is a helpful consideration when applying to run off the museum track to places like Riverside.
