Consider this as well: Where would state and local police forces, which are already undermanned and unable or unwilling to add more manpower in far too many cases, going to get the additional personnel to patrol those private properties, hmmm? That's one of the main reasons (if not the main reason) "public" police don't already patrol those properties and deter criminal activities there as they do in public areas; corporations don't like paying for private police/security any more than they have to and would be quite happy to let the local cops do it, but the state and local police just don't have the manpower and budgets for that, and they don't have much chance of getting them anytime soon.
Perhaps, instead of pinning the blame for everything solely on corporations (who, in all fairness, have played a key role in creating the current mess our country is in), the OWS types should focus more on the politicians in City Hall, the state capitols, and Washington who actually wrote and passed the laws that allow the corporations to have the powers and abilities that they bemoan so much; after all (and contrary to what some folks seem to think), corporations are run by people who will take any advantage they can, and it's not always their fault that the politicians give them those advantages, unfair or not. Of course, that would make too much sense, and making sense isn't very fashionable these days...
