Last scene in the film is beautifully composed. The train sits motionless, giving off plumes of steam; Lancaster is slowly walking, away from the camera, up a road that parallels the track. Beautiful black-and-white composition. No music, as I recall, just the quiet puff-puff of the loco. And then the crawl starts up from the bottom of the screen.
