While working on a bridge replacement job in Orange Park Acres (Orange County, CA) yesterday, I noticed a passenger car truck set as we drove down Meads. My benevolent driver backed us up so we could take a look. An old heavyweight baggage car was visible a bit further back along a northerly property line. After picking up our survey total station, we passed by again and I took 3 photos. The actual car body is visible in google satellite view without the shipping container in the way. To view this car, go to Orange County CA and then zoom in to Meads and Acre. It will be visible on the west side of the street. I like to use google because they give viewers a 45 degree view when you zoom in far enough.

Does anyone know the history of this baggage car? One PV owner I contacted was unaware of this car. Do not confuse this car with the two other old heavyweights elsewhere in Orange which are located at Glassell and Bristol. This old heavyweight baggage car is 3 or 4 miles from active rails and 2 miles from the abandoned SP line. Photos were taken from public property.
