Thank you, Mr.Schultz, for furthering my knowledge of the Talgo situation. Please understand that the FACTS that I presented were only from one source @ Amtrak, albeit a mid-level supervisor in the Mechanical Dept. - Amtrak West. This information was considered to be FACTual as of mid - August, and is subject to change and interpretation.Consider also the various entities involved in the Talgo project,( Amtrak, WSDOT,Talgo,FRA, BNSF,), and the spin each can put on the situation.
Perhaps, Mr. Schultz, as a representive of WSDOT, you can give us all the FACTS on the following:
FACT -- A short trainset of Talgo equipment was sitting in the yard @ CEECO from at least May to August, 2007.Why???
FACT -- The current Talgo mechanical maladies were serious enough to require immediate removal from service of all trainsets, before Amtrak could even bring in substitute equipment. Why???
FACT -- The Talgo equipment in use on Trains #510 & 517,( The Vancouver run), was replaced by Superliners earlier this year. Why???
Also, Mr.Schultz, can you define the word "soon", as you used in the sentence "The Talgo equipment will be back soon." ??? As a resident & homeowner in King Co., Washington, I would like to hear WSDOT's official response. Thank You; George Andrews
