Re: EWG 8924 correct history and soon to be retired.
8924 has developed serious radiator leakage and it lacks extended range dynamic brakes. It is still a good runner, but these are the main reasons that it is the next to go. The ultimate goal is to replace ALL of the SD45's because, lets face facts, they are fuel hogs!
I haven't seen the 8702 yet, but I understand that it is still a "snoot".
For some reason, Altamont Press does not allow picture links to "Railroadforums.com". Sometimes they work but more often they don't. I just tried clicking on the picture link in my post of 12-12-2011 - 08:18 and it did open the picture in another tab.
At one point I was able to upload pictures to "ftp://trainnews.webhop.org", then imbed them in an AltamontPress posting, but that doesn't seem to work anymore either!
Try this:
Butler's Railroadforums picture gallery
Again, it works just fine in "Preview" mode.
If it doesn't work, then copy this and typing a "
www." ahead of
railroadforums.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=6242
That should take you to my Railroadforums picture gallery which has pictures of both 2891 and 375, and a whole lot more.
