Caboose on BNSF in Emeryville

This afternoon at about 1:30 p.m. I saw a short BNSF train pulled by two ancient blue-&-yellow GPs that was tailed by an honest-to-goodness ATSF caboose. The windows on the the cupola were open, giving me the idea that it might actually have been occupied. There didn't appear to be a FRED on the coupler. It was heading westbound through Emeryville, so it will probably be making its return trip later this afternoon.
