One thing that must be understood is we are talking about NARROWBAND transmissions here, NOT digital. Digital is being experimented with right now in a few selected places, just so the R.R.s in advance, know and have the advance experience and knowledge of what they are dealing with here. As far as Mr. Guy said above, I'll back him up all the way, regardless of transmitting in Wideband or Narrowband, you will indeed have the bleedover problems, even if minor. That problem is happening right now in Clinton Iowa. The UP Road Channel is on 062062 and the CP Road Channel is on 065065. If anyone is within a few miles of CP's Clinton Radio on UP channel 062062, when the CP Iowa Operation Supervisor transmits, it wipes out most of what you are hearing and both of them on transmitting on NARROWBAND. Also, when the Yarmaster at Clinton talks of 071071 and you are a mile or more away, the BNSF transmitting from the Savanna South Radio, Plumb River Radio, or Savanna radio, all some 20 miles away, wipes the UP Yardmaster right out. Again, this is all on NARROWBAND. As one poster said above, on Digital, it all just STOPS and NOTHING at all is heard. Also, Mr. Guy talks about Dispatcher STA who I will also back up all the way on this and who is an extremely knowledgeable person when it comes to radio communications is absolutely right as well, the current railroad radio communications system is NOT Designed for Digital Communications.
