You will still be able to hear analog transmissions but the volume may have to be turned up a bit. Once the "new" intermediate frequencies begin to be used, you may get "bleed over" from the new adjacent channel(s).
Should the railroads ever go fully digital...that will be the end to listening on a conventional scanner.
