I biked the Route of the Hiawatha Trail in 2003. It was my best rail experience which did not involve actual trains. Whoever prepared those 40 plaques really did their homework on the history of the Milwaukee Road in the area.

That first tunnel at St. Paul Pass is a very long one from a bicyclist's perspective. For most of the time, all you see is a pinprick of light at the other end.
