The Lookout Pass Ski Area, where you buy your day use pass for the trail, has a shuttle bus service available that will haul you & your bike back up the hill from Pearson, ID. to the Roland, ID. trailhead & parking area. A totally FAT - ASS way to bike !!! Please note that the bus does NOT go to East Portal trailhead & parking area. If you choose to start your trip there you must ride through the summit tunnel twice.
I've done this ride 3 times; I even proposed to my wife @ Falcon siding a few years back. The ski area also has bike rentals, complete with the headlights Bruce mentioned. Stay in Wallace or Kellogg,ID., and enjoy the other old RR R of W's turned trails around the area. Next on my list is the EwePee across Lake Benewah.
