Tony, you really need to put that footage on a dvd or two!

Regarding the crossings, the salt air rusts over the rail head and renders the circuits useless until the engine is right on top of the crossing. They may have also altered the circuit length as crossings like Seabright were prone to staying activated long after the train passed.

The switch near 17th Ave was pulled in '03 during the tie project. The switch into the spur at the far west end of Orby fell victim to a derailment then completely disappeared during the tie work. I'm guessing the switch to that other spur to Wrigley/Lipton met the same fate.
