Double Slip Switch (aka. Puzzle Switch)

LAUPT had several double slip switches before the track work was rebuilt without them. The Chicago Union Station south leads have a large number. The SEPTA suburban station east leads at 30th Street Station Philadelphia have a handful. There are two kinds. Inside double slip switches where some of the points are inside the diamond and outside where all the points are outside the diamond. I don't remember ever seeing the latter.

What makes me think of puzzle switches is this picture of the south leads of Chicago Union Station. Click here. The train is interesting too.

Wikipedia has a good explanation of these switches and a couple of pictures. Click here.
