Sierra Northern Wrapping Up Operations In Santa Cruz

I was in Santa Cruz this afternoon and dropped by the wye to see if there was any activity. I spotted the conductor at the switch to the interchange spur and stopped to see what was going on. Shortly SERA #50 arrived and they picked up the ballast hopper that will be sent to the Watsonville interchange along with SERA #50 for return to Oakdale.

Next they turned the power and hopper on the wye and back towards to flatcar to couple with it.

Because it was getting late they decided to make the move to Watsonville the tomorrow. I caught them as they crossed the bridge over the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor on their return to ProBuild. NOTE: The picture is a little distorted because I was trying out a new very wide-angle lens.
