Intermodal Information and Terminology

I am writing about high-density Class 1 intermodal traffic. I have been told the Long Beach to Chicago area yards route is the busiest in the nation in terms of trains and ton miles.

I have a some questions regarding the above subject:

1. What is the average number of "single stack" intermodals to arrive in all BNSF Chicago area yards from Long Beach per day. (I assume the same number return to Long Beach from Chicago, albeit presumably mostly empty).

2. Same question for "double stack" intermodals.

3. Average size (number of railcars) of each train.

4. The number of these that are "Z" trains.

5. Average number of engines per eastbound intermodal train.

6. Average number of engines per westbound intermodal train.

7. Approximately how much of this intermodal traffic into Chicago is "local" and how much is sent on to eastern destnations.

8. When a train makes a trip between two locations, what is that referred to? Is it a trip, route, run, etc?

I appreciate and thank you very much for any information you can provide.
