Thanks for the info. I'll print your commemts for reference. As I am approaching retirement (60/30) these are things I need to know. I'll be young enough to still work and eager to do work that is more rewarding and fun than what railroading has become.
One question: If my wife has a business and I volunteer and she claims any profits as her income is there any danger? Will she have her retirement benefits reduced?
To anyone that thinks railroad retirement is a federal handout--I'll have paid in for over 41 years at age 60. Do you think I'll draw out for another 41+? Take a look at a railroaders pay stub and you'll see that we pay in almost twice what you pay in social security?
