FWIW

Every now and again, the UPRR routes a traditional general merchandise freight past my favorite train watching spot. Beyond looking for the elusive heritage unit or an unpatched SP unit, I generally don't pay much attention to the passing trains.

However, one day I noticed several cars marked "MET" which leads to the Modesto and Empire Traction Co., which serves the Bernard Industrial District.

It seems that MET cars routinely are part of the UP's gen'l merchandise trains.

I don't know who is who or what is what, but, the MET seems to be doing rather well.l
