Most gensets rotate the engines based on hours the on board computer keeps track of to equalize the wear on each engine, CCT 2101 a Brookville product does this as does the other gensets from NRE and Railpower we tested.

CCT uses the 2101 on the Lodi local that runs the main for 16 miles and then switches on either end of the line since its a 2100 hp unit similar to a GP 38 in weight and power it can be used in both yard and road service.

Most gensets are used in yard or in local service, with UP using 6 axle gensets for hump duty in Roseville Gensets on locals in Southern CA. Cal Northen is gensets in local and switch service and the MET uses them in yard and haul service.

We are all getting used to this new technology of having more than one engine to maintain and all the new computer control systems.

It saves fuel, makes the air cleaner and the CCT 2101 looks great doing it.
