This is all turning into "Back to the Future". SP's experiments with both the hydraulics and the
"Popsicles" all involved higher speed ie 1800 rpm prime movers. They were derided as too high speed, would wear out too quick, etc. Wait'll they get a look on the new Tier 4 Cummins 5200 hp,
V20, which runs at 1800 rpm. The alternator actually likes the higher synchronous speed and if you
do the formula, the displacement is much lower for a similar horsepower.
