BOB 2.......I can certainly empathize with what you are saying but for those of us who are in the middle of this "third world country" it is a different picture. The timber industry is all but gone. The local business community has controlled prices and outside influence since the end of WWII. The local college population doesn't want anything to change except retrogression to some environmental utopia that doesn't involve people (that includes about half the population of the county) We have the highest energy prices anywhere in the US (I'm just waiting for someone to tell me I can't burn wood anymore). Coos Bay has more geographic positives (socially and physically) for port development than Humboldt Bay. Check it out.
The sound of a well tuned Nathan M-3 echoing around the Bay on a winter night was an unforgettable experience I would love to hear again. No quiet zones then!
