The location was 26th Ave. South Of Fruitridge Rd. This crossing is double track for both Light rail and UP (4 tracks) Two freight trains had met at the crossing prior to the LRV arriving. There is no indication as to what rail traffic the gates are down for.
RT has several crossings in the area where the gates come down at least 90 seconds or more prior to the train. The impact that light rail has on traffic at certain intersections is significant. RT has set up the traffic signals downtown to favor the trains above all other traffic. Rarely do you see trains waiting for a traffic light to change for them.
My question is which entity is responsible for the timing of crossing gates at these shared grade crossings? The advanced time interval RT seems to favor is contributing to motorist impatience.
