My take is that Van Ark was fired after angering the Chandlers for wanting to engineer out the Grapevine route than was recommended in the Quantm study. The Tejon Cartel has slapped what I consider to be an unconstitutional embargo on crossing their domain. Call me a conspiracy theorist if you wish but I think highway interests want that alignment reserved for a truck tollway.

The CHSRA juggernaut will proceed as it is essentially a welfare scheme and these are ultimately never cancelled.

These people are so stupid they will slavishly retrace the ancient UP route thru the Tehachapis and yet not even interchange with the UP at Mojave such that the San Francisco Chief could be reinstated.
